If you grew up with a different style of worship, you may walk into a Liturgical church, with robes, candles, gestures, and prayers read out of a book, and feel very confused. You may find yourself asking, "Are these people Catholics? Why do they do the things they do? What am I supposed to do?" This brief guide will help you understand who we are at St. Timothy's and why we worship the way we do.
A Brief Guide to the Liturgy
St. Timothy's is a Protestant church. We are part of the world-wide Anglican Communion of churches.
Our worship service has the same outline as the church of the first century.
We worship using the 1979 Book of Common Prayer (the red book in the pew), the 1940 Hymnal, and contemporary worship music.
The focus of worship is God's word and the service of Eucharist. (Eucharist means "thanksgiving;" it is the original word for the sacrament also called Communion or the Lord's Supper).
We believe Christ is spiritually present in the bread and wine, the benefits of which are received by faith alone.
Anyone who has been baptized in the name of the Trinity is affectionately invited and encouraged to come forward to share the Eucharist. It is a powerful symbol of our unity in Christ!

What do we believe?
The foundations are as follows:
We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts; the Bible is God's revealed truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
There is one God, Who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that all are born into original sin and unable to save themselves; a person may only be saved through God's mercy.
We believe that salvation is by God alone as He wills and is received by grace through faith.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, Who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him alone for salvation.
We believe that God is sovereign over all creation.
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God's people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him. We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
