Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you like to knit or crochet? Would you be interested in using your crafting talents to join the church in blessing others with prayer and affection?

A few ladies at St. Timothy's Church have begun to do just that. Inspired by the original prayer shawl ministry, these ladies knit and crochet shawls for men and women in the congregation who are ill. They pray as they work, believing that God will infuse His love into every stitch. When competed, the shawls are blessed during a Service, and taken to those in need.

If you would like to make a prayer shawl, you can find the original pattern here, or you can use your own pattern to make a shawl. They average around 2x6 feet in size, but there are no strict rules.
Don't know how to knit or crochet? No problem! Come to the meetings to learn how, many are beginning.
You may use your own yarn, or come to a meeting to use some of the yarn that has been donated. If you would like to make a shawl for someone specific, check out the Prayer Shawl Ministry's Color Chart to find special colors for different kinds of illnesses, or with special symbolism.
The ministry is also looking for donations of yarn! If you have leftover yarn that you would like to donate, bring it in during office hours, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. M-F. We are especially looking for at least 500 yards of the same color or coordinated yarn, as that is about how much is used in one shawl.
For more information, call the church office at 410-747-6690, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. M-F.
