Five Weeks to Live Article
02/10/10
Terry Sweeney
If we knew we only had five weeks to live, we might be surprised to find how we'd react. Some of us might drink more, have all the sex they could and with anyone they could. Others might feel the strong need to make things right with God and the people they've hurt over the years. Others would crawl in a hole and die; some might take a trip of a lifetime (literally). Some would fight to find a cure while some might just kill themselves and get it over with. The fear of pain, being prodded by nurses and doctors the indignity they see in hospitals; the suffering - the unknown of when and how and what it will be like. This series takes an honest look at what if we had "Five weeks to live" and addresses head on these and others issues by exploring topics such as fear, honesty. hope, trust and peace.
Christopher Foundation Memorial Service
12/21/09
Terry Sweeney
The death of a loved one is traumatic, even for people of faith. The sorrow, pain and seperation is often magnified during major holidays. The death of a loved one through their own action is even more traumatic. It leaves many person/families with difficult questions, feelings of guilt, perhaps shame and certainly remorse. The Christopher Foundation in cooperation with St Timothy's Church will offer a first annual memorial service for those whosw loved one(s) have committed suicide. The service will be informal and brief. Part of the service will offer an opportunity to place a decoration on a Christmas tree that serves as a reminder or represents our loved one. An opportunity to give a testimony or speak about yoyr loved one is also part of the service (even though no one is required to speak) St Timothy's Church is located on 200 Ingleside Avenue between Edmonson and Frederick, Catonsville. The service will held in the Church auditorium. All persons are welcomed. For information please contact Paige Gilmore at 410-493-1675 or Fr Terry Sweeney 443-955-2285.
