Let's read the Bible in a year!
I want to invite you to join me in reading the Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 during the coming year. There are numerous reading programs, many are in the back of Bibles. Others can be found on the Internet. Some will read in a serial fashion, others will be a combination of an Old Testament, Psalm and New Testament reading, and others may take yet a third route. The important things is that we're reading together . . . . . Sort of like the Anglican idea of the Book of Common Prayer used worldwide.
We would begin on January 1, 2012. Near the end of the month we'd arrange a way to meet to share experiences, offer support and pray. We would continue to do our daily reading, and meet monthly until the end of the year when we would celebrate. . . . . And for those who wanted to we'd start over!
If you want to give this a try but are afraid you might fall behind or drop out, don't be discouraged. Take this a day at a time, knowing that life can throw us some curves and grace abounds. Do the best you can and you will be surprised how habitual this will become.
All you have to do is jot me a note to let me know you're going to participate and begin reading on January 1st, 2012. (If I know who is reading, I can keep you in my prayers. We could also share the known list and ray for one another. I need prayer everyday.)
