“Go and Tell”
By Catherine M. Bellis
Via the Holy Spirit
We’ve been given The Great Commission,
Both for here as well as abroad,
To go and tell of divine saving grace
Which defeats Satan, that goodfornothin’ fraud.
As we tell of Jesus’ self-sacrifice,
And of His unconditional love,
We’ll be as wise as a serpent
And as gentle as a dove.
We’ll follow Jesus our Shepherd;
He’s the one and only true way,
He knows each temptation and pitfall,
He will never lead us astray.
Abroad go the young and not-so-young,
In the Holy Spirit’s power and strength,
Satan in all of his fury and rage
Their faith and commitment can’t quench.
At home, though older, we’re yet willing,
God’s salvation plan to proclaim,
And together we’ll chase that Deceiver,
‘Til he flees in defeat and shame.
So many, so many, like lost, strayed sheep,
Are hurting and dying of sin,
We must open our hearts and doors now,
And with loving hands gather them in.
Tell that Christ’s blood, shed at Calvary,
Will blot out their sin and their shame,
He’ll give them a new, eternal life
When they surrender in faith to His Name.
His Spirit will dwell within them,
Bringing peace they never have known,
‘Til in humble adoration
They bow and worship at His throne.
So let’s not delay any longer,
But The Great Commission keep
And set the angels in heaven rejoicing
At the rescue of each precious lost sheep.
